FAQ
What kind of clothing should I bring?
Spring and Autumn in Spain can be wet at times, so be prepared. But typically we will enjoy lots of sunshine.
What happens if I get left behind?
If in the unlikely event you lose contact with the group and the motorbike-tours back-up vehicle fails to see you, you can make your own way to the next scheduled stop (the location will be supplied to you at the beginning of each day) or you can contact one of the guides by telephone (the numbers will be supplied to you a the outset of the tour).
Where will you meet me?
Representatives from motorbike-tours will be meet you at a pre-designated point; usually at the ferry terminal.
How long will I ride each day?
Distances vary each day. The first two days for instance we will cover a fair amount of ground in order to reach the nice weather in the south. Once we are well into Spain we try to avoid motorways as much as possible, and use minor roads that are fantastic for biking. Typically we would ride for four hours a day.
I have a small fuel tank. Will I be able to re-fuel regularly?
There will be regular stops for fuel and refreshments.
What if my bike breaks down?
You are strongly advised to take out European breakdown cover. In any event, our guides will help as much as possible and you won't be left behind. If the worst comes to the worst, you can ride in the back-up vehicle.
If the weather is hot, will I be able to stop for water?
There will be regular stops, but if you're really desperate, indicate to the motorbike-tours guide and he will stop at a suitable place. Drinking water is carried in the support vehicle.
I haven't been riding for long. Will I be welcomed into the group?
You're a biker and as such are more than welcome. We stick to the national speed limits, so you should have no problem keeping up.
What if I want to go on ahead?
We encourage staying as a group, but if you really want to press on you can. You will be supplied with the address of the scheduled stop at the beginning of the day.
How many bikes are there in a group?
Usually ten to twelve.
Would my pillion be allowed to ride in the support vehicle?
Provided there is room, there won't be a problem.
Is it men only or are women welcome?
Women are actively encouraged to join motorbike-tours.
Do I need European Breakdown Cover?
Although we provide a back-up vehicle, motorbike-tours strongly recommend that you have some level of European breakdown cover.
What should I bring?
You should bring all the appropriate documentation relating to your motorcycle, such as V5 Ownership document, driving Licence and certificate of insurance. A spare set of bulbs and a reflective jacket for break-downs. Some euros may come in handy and don't forget your passport! A camera is a must.
