LOWVELD LEGEND TOUR
(7 days / 8 nights)
JHB - Northern Drakensburg - Lowveld - Kruger Park - JHB
The Lowveld
Legend is "undoubtedly" the planets finest motorcycle
touring experience. The roads and routes are un-congested
and uncluttered with the traffic usually associated with
riding in Europe, the USA and other developed countries.
Although set in Africa... all guests are astounded at the
quality of the roads we ride. The pristine tarmac contains
some of the best corners available for the motorcycling
aficionado to enjoy. The area is host to the Big 5 and a
visit will include a rest day viewing these majestic animals
from the vantage point of an open safari vehicle... Scenery
is beautiful as the roads undulate between the open plains
of the Mpumalanga highlands or highveld as we call it
plunging down into the warm lowlands (lowveld) of the
mystical Northern Drakensburg Range; legendary for its
wildlife, bygone gold rush days and... fantastic riding...
what legends are made of. The "Legend" is our forte (7 days
/ 8 nights)
Lowveld Legend, our standard
tour offering departing and returning to Johannesburg; rides
out via the highveld (highlands) plains before plunging down
the mighty Northern Drakensburg Range and into the warm
lowveld (lowlands). The week is spent exploring this land of
myth and legend where transport riders hunted wild game on
their trek while bringing in mining supplies to the
scattered gold diggings which attracted thousand of starry
eyed fortune seekers. The tour boasts the highest
concentration of Spectacular Mountain passes on the planet
today. A rest day is spent 'Big 5' Game viewing from the
seat of an open safari vehicle as the area is famous for
high concentrations of African Wildlife in their natural
habitat.

Riding
Wow.. is the best way to describe this weeks ride.
Both Ingo and Fito were accomplished riders
who did not take unnecessary chances, seeing as they
both ride on the other side of the road back home.
The ride was well judged as we were always in
by nightfall and enjoyed regular stops en route for
photo opportunities (great pics Fito).
Accommodation
Accommodation was
once again very good, hosts always going out of
their way to make our little group feel welcome and
part of the ‘family’.
Food was very special, not only great food
overnight but superb food and presentation at lunch
stops. From superb trout in Dullstroom to yummy
pancakes in Graskop.
Game Viewing
The day drive into the Kruger Park was good but
unfortunately took place in the afternoon which was
not the best time of day to find the animals.
Joe’s thinking was to ensure the guys had a
relaxed day off with a later get up breakfast at the
superbly prepared bush camp (which was relaxing).
However it would be best to do the early
morning rising, ensuring the day in the Kruger is
well spent.
Thanks
Thanks to Ingo and Fito for being a
really special ride, great riding and great company.
Also a special thanks to all our hosts but
especially Dagmar and Deon for the amazing work they
did to ensure the new bush camp was ready for us
(check the pics out).
